Fitchburg Real Estate

As the state capital's next-door neighbor, Fitchburg sits at the cultural and economic center of Wisconsin, offering a variety of quieter residential neighborhoods for citizens to enjoy this Midwestern metro region.

This small city is just four miles south of state capital Madison, and one of the earliest settlements in the area - its history dates back to the 1830s when it was a farming community. Early neighborhoods included Oak Hall, Lake View, Dogtown, Syene, and Fitchburg Village, which became the city's first downtown area. Many of the first buildings to define Fitchburg real estate are still standing; the city lists five sites on the National Historic Register spanning many architectural styles, including Greek Revival, Italianate and Victorian. With many other local heritage buildings not on the historic register, Fitchburg's historic charm is hard to beat.

Fitchburg officially became a city in 1983, and like many parts of the capital region, it's growing steadily. A wide variety of affordable new homes are on offer in this pleasant suburban community.
