University Hill Farms Real Estate

The Hill Farms area is home to some of Madison's finer properties, with real estate significantly more valuable than in neighboring communities. The neighborhood is comprised mainly of single family homes, although condos and commercial buildings are also numerous. Almost 3000 housing units are spread throughout University Hill Farms real estate, making it one of the city's most populous areas.

In 1955, The University of Wisconsin opened up this 487 acre parcel of land for development, creating an architectural control committee to preserve the area's beauty and to define appropriate development. Still in existence, the control committee has shaped a neighborhood of strikingly unique homes, built to complement the land around them. Most University Hill Farms homes were built during the initial round of construction in the 50s and 60s, and feature interesting and tasteful designs from that era. Some of the area's most notable residences include 4702 Waukesha, the 1959 “Musical Note” house still occupied by the original residents, and 5001 Bayfield, a standout home noted for its slanted brick accent walls and great corner location.
